Artist's Story
As I drove along a little-used side road near my birthplace in Northern Florida, sunlight filtering through the native foliage revealed an array of bronze and copper reflections from what looked like mysterious abandoned equipment. Curiosity required that I stop and investigate. The source turned out to be this iconic example of American industrial might, which had no doubt been quietly decomposing in its current resting place for decades.
Artist's Story
The beauty of the scene was extraordinary. As nature consumed the antique Chevy truck, a variety of native foliage cast soft shadows over the colorful façade. Canole lizards scampered in every direction, claiming it as their own.
I was compelled to capture the beauty of this scene. Over a number of weeks in the studio, I also began to think about it as an example of the interplay of humans and nature… the inevitable reclamation. - Tim Myrick, artist
