Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel fresco was opened to the public.

The ceiling's 342 figures took Michelangelo five years to paint, and today over five million people visit the Vatican City to see it each year. Did you know that scholars believe that he included a self-portrait by painting his face into his depiction of God in “The Creation of Adam.” Michelangelo, also know as ‘The Divine One’, was apparently a workaholic. Only days before he died at the age of 88, he was still working. MORE
