Recently, I unearthed a single photo [Polaroid] of a fiber art piece I was commissioned to create in 1985 for the lobby of a professional office in Cleveland.

I had titled it “North Coast Sunset” and I laugh every time I think of it – even all these years later.

I had just finished installing it in the office when movers began delivering new office furniture. One of the movers frowned at it – both coming and going.

He finally stopped, peered at me, and asked, “What do ya call dat, modern art or somethin’ like that?”

I answered, “Yes, something like that, I guess. It’s called “North Coast Sunset”.

He pondered it for a few more long seconds and then replied:

“In my neighborhood, we’d call it Vandalism!”

So many years later, I still laugh every time I think of it. And he had a point!

Humor is so healthy - even if you're not sure if it may be a veiled insult.
